The Yarns of Love group is a dedicated group of women (Men are welcome also) who enjoy fellowship as we knit and crochet items to give to various organizations to help those they serve. We meet every Wednesday between 9-12pm. Donations of yarns are always welcome, and we are happy to teach the art of knitting and crocheting to anyone interested.
Some of these organizations we have donated to include:
• Knitted hats and scarves given to:
o St. Mary’s Church in Apopka for shipment to Ukraine
o Safehouse Shelter for women and children in Sanford
• Prayer shawls and lap robes given to:
o Life Care Center in Orlando and Altamonte Springs
o Fresnius Dialysis Center in Casselberry
• Knitted & crocheted toys, hats, scarves for kids & crocheted ponchos for young girls given to:
o Hope Community Center in Apopka
o Orlando Rescue Mission for Women and Children
• Worry Worms given to:
o Seminole County Sheriff’s Depart for children of Domestic Abuse
o Seminole County Health Depart in Sanford for children receiving vaccinations
• Small American Flags given to:
o VA Nursing Home in Lake Nona for the resident’s meal tray in honor of their service
• Knitted Baby hats (pumpkin and Christmas) given to:
o Advent Hospital for newborns
• Angel Gowns and Teddy Bears given to:
o Advent Hospital NICU for newborns and their parents
