You may have notice something new at Mass these past few weekends! Beginning September 5–6, our St. Stephen altar servers have been wearing new red cassocks and white surplices.
But this is more than a new look! These traditional vestments remind us that serving at the altar is a sacred ministry and an important part of the beauty and reverence of our Catholic worship.
The white surplice calls to mind the purity and new life we receive in Christ, while the red cassock reflects the dedication and service of those who assist at the altar.
Our altar servers give their time, attention, and hearts to this ministry and we are so grateful for them.
Next time you see our altar servers, be sure to congratulate them on their new vestments and thank them for their service!
And to our altar servers: thank you for helping make our celebrations beautiful and for serving Christ at His altar.
